My Skincare Routine

Let me give you a quick rundown on my skincare routine!

Cleanse 1*

I start by using a balm, micellar water or cleansing cloth to remove my makeup. There’s no use in using a facewash if your face is full of makeup – it’s not going to remove it and all you’re doing is wasting money! Remove your makeup first (even if you don’t have a lot on)!

Favourites: The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Butter, Garnier micellar water, Garnier micellar water wipes

Cleanse 2*

I cleanse with a foaming face wash; I prefer gel wash formulations to creams as I have combo skin.

Favourites: Environ foaming gel wash

Tone

I don’t always do this step, mostly due to laziness (bad!!!). It’s actually quite an important step in a skincare routine: it helps to remove excess dirt, traces of oil and makeup and it corrects and balances the pH of your skin. If you’re on a budget I think it would be okay to skip this step though.

Favourite: Environ toner, Mamonde Rose toner

Serum/Treatment

I recently starting using the Environ Colostrum gel, which I apply after cleansing/toning. If I have some on hand I would also apply eye crème.

Favourite: Environ Colostrum gel, The Ordinary serums (Granactive Retinoid; Niacinamide)

Moisturise

It’s important to put back moisture after all that cleansing! I have dehydrated skin (mostly due to me being very very bad at drinking enough water).

Favourite: Environ Mild day crème (day); Nivea Even Tone Overnight Brightening Serum (night). If my skin feels a bit drier I would also use the Avon Miracle Glow facial oil (**secret tip: mixing a drop of this oil with your foundation makes your skin look incredible!**).

Sunscreen

Another step I sometimes forget…and out of everything, this is the worst to forget! We all know we need to wear sunscreen to prevent premature aging and skin cancer.

Favourite: Eucerin SPF50 gel-crème

Exfoliate

I try to exfoliate at least twice a week. I usually use a granular type of exfoliator.

Favourite: The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion scrub.

Mask

I try to mask at least twice a week as well, on the same nights as exfoliating. I also try to use my facial roller when I have a cream (non-drying) mask on or when removing my sheet mask, to help absorption of beneficial ingredients as much as I can.

Favourite: I have HORDES of face masks (mostly sheet masks) and a lot I haven’t tried, so it’s impossible to pick a favourite at this stage, but I do prefer hydrating or brightening types.

* In the morning I simply wipe my face with a warm washcloth (a bit of extra daily exfoliation)
