I won’t call myself a cosmetics hoarder – a hoarder is someone that has a lot of stuff and doesn’t do anything with it, they just let it pile up and pile up till kingdom come due to serious psychological problems and it turns into an unliveable, unsanitary mess.
But yes, I do have a lot of cosmetics. Some that I haven’t used or even opened because I’m still busy using up another similar item. I also have a “stockpile” of certain items, like dry shampoo or cotton rounds, that I buy when it’s on special or on a 3 for 2 type deal. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have various similar items in use at any one time. I have a few body lotions, face washes, moisturizers, body washes, serums, masks etc. open and in use at any given time. I like trying something to see if it will work – if I like it, I’ll continue to use it and possibly repurchase it. I also receive makeup and skincare items in my monthly Boxycharm, so there’s always something new to look forward to.
I’ve decided to have a project in 2020 – #ProjectEmpties2020 – I’ll get a box, put it in my garage and every time I finish a product, I’ll put the empty item in there. At the end of the year I can see how many items I’ve used and what items I’ve repurchased over etc. Smaller disposable items like razors, toothpaste and sheet face masks won’t be included in this. This is not intended to create some sort of shock value, it’s simply a fun idea. I’ll also get to see what items I’ve used earlier in the year that I might have forgotten about by the end. I will also then be able to recycle it correctly!
Who’s joining me?
