With Spring in full swing and Summer around the corner, let’s have a look at some must do and must haves for the coming season!
Exfoliate
After months hidden under layers of clothes you will need a good exfoliation to remove all the nasty dead skin cells! There are numerous scrubs available on the market and you can even make your own (think sugar mixed with body wash!). But regular exfoliation is key for skin renewal and to leave you soft and smooth!
Some to try:
The Body Shop Moringa Exfoliating Cream Body Scrub

Moisturise
Applying a daily moisturiser to your body is crucial to protect it against the elements and to provide moisture to skin (even if it feels like you don’t need it!).
Some to try:
Vaseline Intensive Care Body Lotion Aloe Soothe
Dove Body Lotion Instant Hydration
Hydrate
Drinking water is essential not only for bodily functions but also to keep your skin in good condition. Water helps to flush out toxins, lubricates your joints, regulate body temperature and so much more. Adding fresh fruit such as blueberries, raspberries, cucumber and lemon, as well as herbs such as mint, makes it a bit more interesting if plain water is too boring. So chug that H20!

Bright nails
Spring and summer isn’t the time for boring nails! Amp it up with some pretty corals, peaches, yellows and light blues. Pretty much any colour of the rainbow! Add some nail art and flash those digits!
Essence nail polish has lots to try!
Sunscreen
This should probably be number 1 on the list and has been preached about and will be preached about until the end of time – PUT ON SUNSCREEN. No “I’m in an office all day” or “I’m in the shade” is not good enough. Slather it on. At least SPF30.
Some to try:
Nivea Sun SPF50 Protect & Refresh Spray
Everysun SPF50 Sunscreen Lotion
Tropitone Move It SPF30 Sunscreen Invisible Spray
Don’t forget the lips!
A much neglected part of the body, don’t forget to frequently moisturise lips. They dry out quickly and can become painful. They can also get sunburnt, so something with SPF is also ideal.
Some to try:
Labello Med Protection Lip Balm
Labello Sun protection SPF30 Caring Lip Balm
Blistex Lip Relief Severely Dry Lip Cream
Cooling mists
When it’s hot out and your skin is feeling tired, have a spritz of these and feel refreshed in no time! Small enough to fit in your handbag and doubly good if you keep it in the fridge! Aaaah, refreshing!
Some to try:
The Body Shop Mint Mattifying Face Mist
The Body Shop Mandarin Energising Face Mist
Avene Eau Thermal Water Soothing
I also have a previous post on the Body Shop face mists, you can read that here.
Feed your face with Vitamin C
A potent antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals, it aids in your skin’s natural regeneration process, which helps your body repair damaged skin cells. So with more time spent in the sun, it’s crucial to ensure you get enough vitamin C (and other nutrients!), even in your skincare.

Get some (fake) colour
Let’s be honest now – we ALL know tanning in the sun is bad. On so many levels (skin cancer, wrinkles, pigmentation, the pain of sunburn, peeling skin…). So rather fake it with one of these easy to use options:
Skinny Tan Gradual Tanner
Skinny Tan Tan And Tone Oil
Caribbean Tan Bronzing Mousse Self Tan
Enjoy summer!
But most of all – enjoy it! Summer is about lounging about and long days and long drinks. Try to take is easy and reduce stress as the end of the year comes closer. Enjoy the longer days, because before long we complain about the cold again!
